Self Drilling Screws Self Drilling Screws A self-tapping screw is a screw that can tap its own hole as it is driven into the material. For hard substrates such as. Buster Shuffle Do Nothing Blogspot here.

BtsmithAGKLU wrote: I did not think there was a difference between self drilling and self tapping. I guess it would be a self drilling screw? Self tapping = always requires a requires pilot hole Self drilling = does not as it will 'drill' that hole by itself Since you have self drilling you don't need to do anything for the part and there is no call out needed at all on the part drawing. Film Semi Korea Kaskus Banyuwangi. If you use interference tools in an assembly then blairs suggesting of adding an assembly level hole would be a good way to avoid the error that the tool will generate.

That hole will not show up in the part and will not cause any confusion when the part is fabricated. If you do not use that tool then simply constrain the screw as needed in the assembly and no hole is needed anywhere. Not some features may be needed to constrain but I'd guess you are using that screw through something already that does have a hole to use for its constraints. BtsmithAGKLU wrote: well i realize to actually make the part you have to make the hole to constrain the bolt to in the assembly drawing. Tutorial Garmin Etrex Vista H. In the actual drawing to call it out though i do not have to call out the hole because the bolt is self tapping in the actual work area? So how would you call out a normal hole in a part drawing?

Its a normal hole. The fabricators of that part could care less what the hole is for. Its just a hole. Its called out the same way as a normal hole by simply indicating the diameter of that hole. If the self taping screw is being used, I would then place it at the highest IAM file. I might use an assemble feature hole just to eliminate any interference issues if I had to run the interference so that the area where the screw was didn't throw up a major error. Since the hole resides at the assembly level, it will never show up in any of the sub assembly drawing or part drawings.

That's why we have lots of notes on our drawings as well to convey that it's a self-taping screw. Some of the smartest people I've meet, aren't the ones creating the draws, they are the ones working with the drawings.
