Seth Singer (Ross Thomas- CSI, American Pie, Beyond the Break), a driven young deaf man, believes in one thing: that he is no different from anyone else. Determined to prove his point, he throws his life savings into a pesticide business despite the presence of a well-established competitor that will do anything to see him fail. Along the way, Seth meets Alma (Amy Purdy), a double amputee, and they find romance as they bond over their disabilities. However, will their connection be strong enough to withstand the return of Nora (Nora Kirkpatrick- John From Cincinnati), Seth’s high school love, who comes home after a disappointing modeling career? The film was written and directed by Eli Steele who is deaf and wears the cochlear implant. Many incidents from his life inspired the film, including the comic sex scene- an audience favorite. Ross Thomas received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Seth Singer.
